Shelia Ann Gillespie Blevins

Shelia Ann Blevins, 63, of Bluefield, WV, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Giles Community Hospital. Shelia was born on September 16, 1962, a daughter of Dorothy Gillespie of Bluefield and the late Dewey Lee Gillespie. Shelia was a proud graduate of Bluefield High School and was proud to be a Beaver. She had a love for Pittsburgh Steelers football and was an avid racing fan. She enjoyed the excitement of a good football game, the roar of the engines, and the simple pleasures of spending time with the people she loved. But more than anything, Shelia loved her family. She was a devoted daughter, mother, sister, and grandmother. There was a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, and she was so very proud of each one of them. Her family was her greatest joy, and the love she gave them will remain with them always. In addition to her mother, Shelia is survived by her children, Johnathan Blevins (Ally) of Lindside, WV, and Kira Burnett (Levi) of Richlands, VA; brother, Steve Gillespie (Angie) of St. Augustine, FL; sisters, Angie Stanton (Carl) of Bluefield, WV, Patricia Wiley (Junior) of Bluefield, WV, and Buffy Gillespie Burnopp (Richard, Jr.) of Bluefield, WV; five grandchildren, Alilah, Ahlana, Tyler, Sophia, and Xzavior; Janet Duff of South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Shelia will be remembered for the love she had for her family, the pride she took in being a grandmother, and the memories she made with those closest to her. Her family will carry those memories with them and find comfort in knowing that the love they shared with her will never be lost. Though her absence will leave an emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, Shelia's memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, family, and all who were blessed to know her. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home, with her brother-in-law, Carl Stanton, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Giles Community Hospital for the kindness, compassion, and wonderful care they provided to Shelia and her family. Sheila was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.
