Sarah Harris Boice

Bluefield, WV- Sarah Rebecca Harris Boice, 80, of 411 Memorial Avenue, Bluefield, WV, died Thursday February 24, 2011 at a Charleston hospital. Born August 10, 1930 in Giles County, VA, she was a daughter of the late Jack Harris and Mary Munsey Harris. Mrs. Boice had been a lifelong resident of Bluefield. She was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church and retired as the Director of Housekeeping at Bluefield Regional Medical Center after 24 years of service. She had been a member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service (W.S.C.S) and was the former President of the Methodist Women at Trinity United Methodist Church. Mrs. Boice was a former member of the Civic League in Bluefield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Cecil, Everett and Joe Harris. Survivors include her husband, Lewin L. Boice of Bluefield, WV; two children, Tim Boice of Anniston, AL and Vickie Hall and her husband Cline of Greenville, NC; two brothers, Ronald Harris and his wife Joyce of North Carolina and David Harris of Bluefield, WV; four sisters, Anna Frye and her husband Jerry of Fort Worth, TX, Freda Evans and her husband Sterling of St. Albans, WV, Margie Hartery of Bluefield, WV and Fran Taylor of Bluefield, VA; four grandchildren, Christin Carlisle and her husband Mike of Orlando, Fl, Lindsay Ingraham and her husband Art of Greenville, NC, Jason Boice and his wife Jana of Newberry, SC and Sarah Hall of Racine, WI; three great-grandchildren, Jack Carlisle, Ella Ingraham and Madeline Carlisle; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Saturday evening, February 26, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday February 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Eddie Johnson and Pastor Larry Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
