Randall "Randy" G. Gilliam

Randall 'Randy' G. Gilliam, 62, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025 at his home in Browns Summit, NC. Randy faced a courageous battle with cancer, remaining a steadfast witness to his trust in God throughout his journey. Randy was born on September 8, 1962, in Norton, VA, to the late James Donald “Don” Gilliam and Johanna “Ann” Farmer Gilliam. He grew up in Jenkins, KY, then later relocated to Burlington, NC, where he met the love of his life, Jaime Blaydes of Bluefield, WV. They married on August 19, 2006 and together they shared life’s journey as best friends. Randy spent much of his career in the passenger and industrial tire field before transitioning to work alongside his wife in the event industry. He cherished time with his family, friends and beloved dogs. He had a passion for music, spending time outdoors, target shooting and strength training. Randy had a gift for lifting others’ spirits, often sharing laughter and words of encouragement. His greatest desire was for them to find hope and peace through salvation in Christ. Randy is lovingly remembered by his wife, Jaime Gilliam; his sons, Matthew Gilliam (Traci) and their children Alexa, Alison, Orion, and soon-to-arrive Gracelyn of Asheboro, NC, and Tyler Gilliam (Joanie) and their children Brendan and Asher of Jenkins, KY. He is also survived by his brothers, Donnie Gilliam of Lexington, KY, and Gary Gilliam (Heather) of Shelbyville, KY; his sister, Barbara Begley (Jim) of Lexington, KY; special nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Anita Blaydes of Bluefield, WV; his brother-in-law, Dr. Stephen Blaydes (Kathleen) of Bluefield, WV; and his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Blaydes Lewis of Alpharetta, GA, along with many more family and friends. Randy’s life was an inspiring example of strength, perseverance, faith, and love. While his time here feels far too short, we rejoice in the assurance that he is now in the presence of his Savior, knowing this is not goodbye—it is simply “see you later.” A visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Mercer Funeral Home, 1231 W. Cumberland Road, Bluefield, WV from 6:00-8:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Bluefield, WV. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Greensboro Urban Ministries (https://www.greensborourbanministry.org/donate) or your local food bank in honor of Randy. The family would like to thank the healthcare professionals at Cone Health Drawbridge Cancer Center and AuthoraCare Hospice of Greensboro, NC for the care and love they gave to Randy.
