Nancy N. Looney

Nancy N. Looney, 90, a Bluefield, WV, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 22, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born April 3, 1935 in Ronceverte, WV, she was a daughter of the late Patton L. Nickell and Isabel Jackson Nickell. Mrs. Looney was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bluefield where she participated in Women of the Church and was in a Circle. Nancy was one of the original WestPress folders. She was proud to be a 1953 graduate Woodrow Wilson, High School in Beckley, WV, and she retired after 28 years of service as Head Teller at Flat Top National Bank. Nancy enjoyed bowling, gardening-her yard was her pride and joy, and walking - with purpose, three to four miles a day. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Looney; and one brother, Patton L. Nickell, Jr. and his wife Ellen. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Beth Crigger and husband, Joe, Paul Looney and wife Ann, and Catherine Hatcher and husband Steve; six grandchildren, Stephen Crigger and wife Kelli, Amanda Gibson and husband J.J., Rachel Looney and fiancé Jeff Coburn, William Looney and girlfriend Caitlyn Farley, Stephen Hatcher, Jr., and Emma Hatcher and boyfriend Jerald Hollister; great grandchildren, Maddux, Jake, and Remi Gibson, Mason Crigger, Meadow Hollister, and baby girl Coburn, who is on the way; two nephews; one niece; Sonny Taylor, who was like a son; hospice nurses, Heather, Nancy, Kayla, and Angie; and caregivers, Donna Flanner, Mike Barnes, and Terry Wohlford. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025 at 1:00 PM from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Rockness and Rev. Mike Barnes officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the service time. Private burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family members will serve as pallbearers.
