Bluefield, VA- Margaret Sue Goodwin, 89, of Bluefield, VA, died Sunday March 29, 2015 at Westwood Center in Bluefield, VA. Born June 9, 1925 in Nemours, WV, she was a daughter of the late Starling Pruitt and Martha Alice Lyons Pruitt. Mrs. Goodwin was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bluefield and was retired from the Mercer County Board of Education as a cook. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed her friends and neighbors. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Goodwin, Sr.; and two siblings. Survivors include her children, Martha S. Taylor and husband Ron Taylor, Sr. of Hardy, VA, and William D. Goodwin, Jr. and wife Nancee of Hamstead, MD; three sisters, Mary Belcher of Gretna, VA, Bonnie Zeoli of Ypsilanti, MI, and Lucille Shields of Bluefield, WV; brothers, Starling “Tom” Pruitt and wife Martha of Chattanooga, TN, and Charles Pruitt and wife Joyce of Nemours, VA; three grandchildren, Dr. Ron Taylor, Jr. and wife, Dr. Kirsten Taylor of Rome, GA, Jessica G. Goodwin of Westminster, MD, and Jamie Goodwin and wife Jessica L. Goodwin of Westminster, MD; two great-grandchildren, Jamie Goodwin, Jr. and Kayla Goodwin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday April 2, 2105 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV where family members will serve as pallbearers.
