Lucille Goodwin

Bluefield, WV Linda Lucille Wilson Goodwin of Rt. 2 Box 758 Bluefield and Glenwood Retirement Village, Princeton, WV completed her journey on this earth on June 26, 2011 at Princeton Community Hospital. She was born January 12, 1922 in Bluefield, WV to the late Aubrey Wilson and Hannah Pruett Wilson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Ward A. Goodwin, Sr., daughters Julia Anne Daugherty of Knoxville, TN, and infant Kathy Goodwin of Bluefield and a stillborn unnamed son, brothers Webster Wilson of Bluefield, VA and Willard Wilson of Dublin, VA, Mrs. Goodwin married Ward Alexander Goodwin, Sr. on June 10, 1943. Mrs. Goodwin was a member of First United Methodist Church Bluefield, VA where she was active in Sunday School and Circle. She was a graduate of National Business College and worked at Appalachian Power Company, Kwik Kafe Vending Company and Bluefield Mental Health Center, and was a volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by the many whose lives she touched and influenced for good. She is survived by her daughters Linda Kidd and her husband Barnes of Tazewell, VA, Sue Bryant and her husband Ron of Cartersville, VA, Gay Goodwin of Charlottesville, VA, and Janet Pittman and her husband Scott of Bluefield, WV, a son Ward Alexander Goodwin, Jr. and his wife Janice of Martinsville, VA, grandchildren Traci Anne Bascue and her husband Scott of Melbourne, FL, Stephen Kidd of Salisbury, NC, David Kidd and his wife Latisha of Abingdon, VA, Elizabeth Goodwin and Ward Alexander Goodwin, III of Charlotte, NC, Katherine Flinn of Seattle, WA, Margaret Flinn of Charlottesville, VA, Sean Flinn of Charlottesville, VA, April Pittman and Adam Pittman of Bluefield, WV, a step granddaughter Rebecca Burner of Richmond, VA, and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday June 29, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Amos and Rev. Jeff Moncier officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Bluefield, VA. Friends may call one hour prior to the service hour Wednesday.
