Linda Sue Hutchinson

Linda Sue (Suzy) Hutchinson, 84, of Bluefield, Virginia, died peacefully Friday, February 28, 2025, at her home. Born on June 6,1940 in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clayton Samuel and Dorothy Bowling. In addition, she was preceded in death by the love of her life for 64 years Clayton Lee Hutchinson and her sister Joann Donithan. Suzy was a great wife, mom, grandmother and homemaker. She loved to cook and clean but when she was cooking there was always enough to feed an army. She always loved holidays and would decorate the house for every holiday no matter how big or small. Our Mom was brave, strong, fearless and she loved her family with all her heart. Mom told us many times all I want to do is make people happy and she did. Linda loved her children and all their friends. In fact, being a homemaker most of the other moms worked so all the neighborhood kids would stay at her house and she always had snacks and fun activities for them. When her daughters started school she was the PTA President every year until they graduated. She was even given an award for being PTA President for so many years. She was always the homeroom mom and loved being around kids. She substituted for Tazewell County Schools for a while. Her life always circled around her family. She loved flowers and in her later years donuts or any sweets. Survivors include two daughters Monica Dalton and her husband Chris of Bluefield, West Virginia, and Leslie Rhudy and her husband Jacob (JL) of Bluefield, Virginia. Grandchildren Trevor and Carah Dalton, Alexis and husband (Jacob), Andrew and his wife Courtney, and Brad and his wife Staci and 6 great grandchildren who meant everything to her. She also had sister Judy Lynch of Bluewell, WV A service to celebrate the life of Linda Hutchinson will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Mercer Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memorial in Bluefield, Virginia.Chris Dalton, Trevor Dalton, JL Rhudy, Andrew Rhudy, Brad Rhudy, and Jacob Gentry will serve as Pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
