??? Bluefield- Katherine Wyrick Wassum, 86, of 4121 Brierwood Lane, Bluefield, died Monday April 7, 2008 in a Bluefield Hospital. ??? Born October 31, 1921 in Knoxville, TN, she was a daughter of the late Rev. David F. and Anna Wheeler Wyrick. Mrs. Wassum attended schools in Castlewood, VA, Tazewell, VA, and graduated from Matoaka High School. Katherine was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Bluefield where she was a member of the Gleanors Sunday School Class ,Circle #7 Ladies Group, and had taught Sunday school for last several years and read scriptures in church. Mrs. Wassum was a devoted and loving home maker for her husband and children and did work part-time outside the home after the children were in school.??? In addition to her parents Mrs. Wassum was preceded in death by; her husband, Robert L. Wassum, Sr., three sisters; Mary Lee Cornett, Anna Kinser, Dela "Pinks" Banks, and two brothers; William W. Wyrick and David F. Wyrick, Jr.??? Survivors include; two daughters, Sandra Wilson and husband Tony of Watha, NC, Judy Mitchell and husband Waymond of Bluefield, VA, a son; Robert L. Wassum, Jr. and wife Angela of Bluefield, WV, five grandchildren; Cherie Ayers and husband Brad of Bluefield, VA, Brian Neece and wife Misty of Johnson City, TN, Brandon Neece of Johnson City, TN, Brent Wassum of Vale, NC, Cody Wassum of Bluefield, WV three great-grandchildren; Benjamin Ayers, Cadie and Taylor Neece , a sisiter; Elizabeth Harler and husband Clyde of Kingsport, TN.??? Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday April 9, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. from the Chapel of the Wildwood Mausoleum Chapel located at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Princeton with the Rev. Homer D. Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends at the Mausoleum Chapel a half-hour before services.???
