Hazel Mullins

Burlington, NC- Hazel Rosa Bell Mullins, 101, of Burlington, North Carolina and formerly of Bluefield, WV died Tuesday October 28, 2013 in Burlington. Born January 12, 1912 in Pounding Mill, Virginia she was the daughter of James and Josie Caudill. She was retired from JC Penney Company in Norfolk, VA. The 101 year old has lived through the toughest of times and the best of times this country has experienced. Instead of mourning the passing of a great lady, her family has decided to celebrate a tremendous lifelived and only mourn the fact that they will no longer have such a great inspiration to look to during this difficult time. From World War I through the Great Depression into a new millennium she lived her life as a shining role model for her family, all five generations. Preceded in death by: Father and Mother; Husband Willie Edward Mullins; Daughter Mary Jo Sands and husband Bill; Sons William Russell Mullins and wife Ellen, Jackie Ray Mullins; Sisters Mary Martin, Nan Alexander, Ruth Lilly; Brothers Willie Caudill, Sam Caudill, Clarence Caudill, Raymond Caudill; Son-in-Law Bud Litton. She is survived by: Daughter Alma Sue Litton; Sister Polly Tate; Daughter-in-Law Betty and Dick Smith; Grandchildren Jamie and Ed Call, Beth and Larry Williams, Mark Sands and Elmo Dattalo, Steve and Teresa Mullins, Becky and Jerry Quick, Kirk Litton and fiancé Janice Hodge, Eddie and Charlotte Litton; Great Grandchildren Chrissy and Edwin O’Connor, Brittand Gwen Call, Chip Williams, Wendy Mullins, Matthew Mullins, Courtney Shields, Gracie Quick, Crystie and Joey Stump, Greg Litton, Ashley and Steven Hopper, Nichole Hodge, Kayla and Jacob Showalter, Joshua Litton; Great-Great Grandchildren Gavin, Logan, and Jack O’Connor, Emma Call, Trey Williams, David and Aiden Currie, Katlin and Michael Stump, Russell Cutsforth, Anna Lauren Hopper, Audrey Ella Showalter. The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Saturday evening November 2, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday November 3,2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where Mark Sands, Kirk Litton, Steve Mullins, Eddie Litton, Joey Stump, and Joshua Litton will serve as pallbearers. Great-great grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
