Mrs. Elizabeth Goddard Carr Maffit

Libby was a remarkable lady, who was loved by everyone she came in contact with. Her favorite word was JOY, and she not only held joy in her heart, but spread it around liberally wherever she went. She always had her own fan club of people waiting to dote on her. Born and raised during the Depression, Libby learned at a young age to be resourceful with any commodity. Her motto was “Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, or Do without”. Because of this value instilled in her, she became an extremely bright and creative person. She loved artwork and she could draw and paint. She could sew an entire wardrobe seemingly overnight. Her creativity and talent knew no bounds. Libby loved adventure and travel and made quite a few trips to destinations around the globe. She and her children took a road trip around the United States in the 1960’s. She also loved nature and being outside in it. She had a camper and a tent and would spend time in the great outdoors. Leaves were a particular favorite, and you could always count on her picking up a few leaves to save whenever she went out. Libby was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, and the Daughter of the King. She took on each role with a fierce passion. She loved with every fiber of her whole being. To be loved by Libby was to be held in the dearest and highest esteem. Libby was preceded in death by her father, Julian Cecil Goddard; her mother, Velma Faye (Hamilton) Goddard; her sister, Marilyn George McLaughlin; and brother, Edwin Goddard. She is survived by her son, Jeffery Chenoweth Carr; daughter, Elizabeth Jane (Carr) Hartery - Charles Edward Hartery; son, William Goddard Carr - Sherry (Bledsoe) Carr; granddaughters, Melissa Christine (Hartery) Maxwell - John E Maxwell; Karen Elizabeth (Hartery) Lindsey; Erin Elizabeth (Carr) Felkel - Dizzy Felkel; Jennifer Melissa (Carr) Novoa - Vic Novoa; and grandson, Bradley Aaron Carr - Kimberley (Parnell) Carr. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren: Mariah Lindsey, Taylor Lindsey, Katherine Lindsey, Evangeline Felkel, Alice Belle Carr, Wesley Lewis, Charlie Carr, Joanna Carr, and Brea Novoa. It is with earthly sadness, but eternal rejoicing, that we say farewell to one of the greatest, sweetest, most compassionate people that God saw fit to place in our hearts and lives.
