Elizabeth Ann Tinder Edwards

Bluefield, WV - Elizabeth Ann Tinder Edwards died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at her home in Bluefield, WV. She was born March 7, 1932 to W. Winfrey Tinder, Sr. and Mabel Stewart Tinder. She had been a resident of Bluefield for most of her life, with the exception of a few years living in Hot Springs, Virginia and Roanoke, Virginia. Ann graduated from Beaver High School in 1950 and attended Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina. Upon returning to Bluefield, she was employed as a legal secretary for many years before her marriage to the late Bill C. Edwards. While growing up, Ann was a member of Bland Street Methodist Church, and after moving back to Bluefield in 2007 she became a member of Trinity Methodist Church. She was active in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Dogwood Garden Club. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, her family, and her dog, Buddy. Ann was preceded in death by her parents and brother, W.W. (Bud) Tinder, Jr., and her husband, Bill C. Edwards. She is survived by her niece, Betsy Tinder Cardwell and husband, Steve, of Rocky Gap, Virginia, and her nephew, Frank C. Tinder and wife, Kim, of Bluefield, Virginia. Also surviving are her great nieces, Lindsey Cardwell of Rocky Mount, Virginia, and Katherine Tinder of Venice Beach, California, her three great-nephews, Scott Cardwell and his wife, Dara, of Durham, North Carolina, Chris Tinder and his wife, Kaitlyn, of Sonoma, California, and Douglas Tinder and his wife, Katie, of Bluefield, Virginia, as well as two great-great nieces and a great-great nephew. Ann also had seven very special caregivers who were a big part of her life. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at11:00 at Monte Vista Park with Rev. Susan Rector officiating. Those attending services are asked to meet at Monte Vista Park Cemetery by 11:00 A.M.
