Clara Perkinson

Bluefield, WV - Clara King Perkinson 94 of 2812 Grandview Bluefield, WV died Friday November 6, 2009 at Westwood Health Care Center Bluefield, VA. Born September 24, 1915 in Littleton, NC she was a daughter of the late Robert Alston King and Nettie Wise King. She was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bluefield, where she formerly served in many capacities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Perkinson, Sr., a sister Ida Bobbitt and brothers Dewitt, Paul, Robert, Arthur and Clarence King, and a grandson R.E. Chip" Perkinson, III. She is survived by a daughter Joan L. Perkinson of St. Augustine, FL, sons; Robert E. Perkinson, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Bluefield, WV and Clarence K. Perkinson and his wife Tami of South Riding, VA, sisters; Lucy Frazier of Huntsville, TX, Ellen Umphlett of Littleton, NC, Louise Marks of Hopewell, VA, Martha Jones of Clarksville, VA, Jean Harris of Winston-Salem, NC and a brother Stanley King and his wife Mary of Littleton, NC. Also surviving are grandchildren Dr. William L. Perkinson and his wife Erin of Arlington Heights, IL, Robyn Elizabeth Stevens and her husband Jay of Charleston, WV, Colin Robert Perkinson of South Riding, VA and Emily Garrett Perkinson also of South Riding, VA, great grandchildren; Payton Clare and Reagan Blair Perkinson, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends Diana Burnette, Armanda Fitzgerald, Phyllis Lewey, Jessica Ferguson, Virginia Wood and Kathy Perry, Missy Jennings, Doris Simpson as well as others who provided her love and support. Funeral services will be conducted Monday November 9, 2009 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. W.D. Hasty, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley. Pallbearers will be Gary Denardo, Fred Dodson, Bob Johnston, Conley Goins, Jay Stevens, IV and Dr. William L. Perkinson. The family will receive friends Sunday November 8, 2009 at Mercer Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
