Bonnie Perdue

Green Valley, WV- Bonnie Lee Perdue, 93, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 2, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. Born May 18, 1918 in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late Kimbo Perdue and Lilly Ruth Perdue. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Neal; two brothers, Raymond Perdue and Therman Perdue; and one granddaughter, Lori Perdue. Survivors are his wife of 66 years, Flora Bell Perdue; three daughters, Linda Duff of Duff Hollow, Green Valley, Ruth Bates and Carolyn Perry, both of North Carolina; three sons, Richard Perdue and wife Sherry of Green Valley, Jimmy Perdue of Green Valley and Michael Perdue and wife Crystal of Springville, VA; two special grandsons, Troy Perdue, who was like his son, and his wife Wanda “Sissy” of Nemours, and Chucky Perry and girlfriend Leona of Green Valley; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Perdue was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class where he received several honors. He was also a self-employed contractor. He was of the Baptist faith and had been a life-long resident of the Bluefield area. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday May 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Captain Jerry Lester officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where Troy Perdue, Stephen William, Jimmy Perdue, Chucky Perry, Sr., Michael Waddell, Michael Perdue, Charles Perry and Chucky Perry, Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Military honors will be rendered by the West Virginia Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veteran’s Council.
