Susan L. Estep

November 27, 1945 - December 30, 2021

Susan Linkous Estep passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones in Sandestin, FL on December 30th, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. Susan was born on November 27th, 1945 in Welch, WV to the late Cecil and Helen Linkous. From childhood to early adulthood, Susan was valedictorian of her high school class, a wonderful musician, high school majorette, and a devoted older sister to her two brothers. She married the love of her life David Larry Estep at the young age of 21 after dating for only four months. Susan worked for 20 years as a Registered Nurse specializing in pediatrics. She loved her work with children and later had two boys of her own. Susan and Larry moved 19 times throughout the United States, and their marriage was filled with wonderful memories of traveling and making lifelong friends over the years. Susan had the kindest soul, she never met a stranger, and she always had a smile on her face. She was an avid baker and amateur poet. She enjoyed the love of God, her husband, her family and friends. Susan leaves behind her husband of 55 years David Larry Estep, her son David (Melanie) Estep of Huntsville, AL, her son Bret Estep of Birmingham, AL, and her four grandchildren: Jackson, Caroline, Gage, and Hatcher, to whom she was ‘Nana’. She also leaves behind two brothers Howard (Joan) Linkous of Richmond, VA and Johnny (June) Linkous of Princeton, VA. Her cousin (as close as a sister) Anita Nedeff, also survives her as do her brother-in-law Harold (Jane) Estep of FL, Brother-in-law Roger (Judy) Estep of Clemson, SC, Sister-in-law Gail Estep of Princeton, WV, and Sister-in-law Beth (Danny) Belcher of Fort Loudon Lake, TN. She also leaves behind beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral arrangements will be provided by Mercer Funeral Home in Bluefield, WV. Her body will be laid to rest at Grandview Memory Gardens Bluefield, VA. A memorial service honoring her life will be held at 11am EST, Saturday January 8th, 2022 at the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Bluefield, VA.
