John Morris Pauley

Bluefield, WV- John Morris Pauley, 70, of Route 2, Box 134-A, Bluefield, died Tuesday July 10, 2012 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA. Born October 26, 1941 in Abbs Valley, VA, he was a son of the late John Gordon Pauley and Lois A. Sizemore Pauley. Mr. Pauley was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Bluefield Church of God and was a retired Heavy Equipment operator with AEP. He was a member of the VFW Post #3856 and the American Legion Post #200. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children Pam and Rusty, Pauline Coburn Pauley; one brother, Thomas G. Pauley; and one sister, Martie Alice Pauley; and two nephews, David Miller and Blynn Pauley. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Ellen Pauley, of the home; four children, John Russell “Rusty” Pauley and wife Karla Holliday Pauley of Clintonville, WV, Pamela Kay Pauley Carter and husband Joey of Princeton, WV, Elizabeth Johnson and husband Randy of Bland Co., VA, and Nancy Dillon and husband Jimmy of Bluefield, VA; adopted son and dear friend, Johnny Ray Finley of Bluefield, WV; two brothers, Claudis E. Pauley and wife Betty of Rupert, WV, and Bernard L. Pauley and wife Judy of Tazewell, VA; six sisters, Shirley Miller of Tazewell, Edna Griffin and husband Paige of Martinsville, VA, Ruth Dalton and husband Gene of Bland, VA, Ellen Carter and husband J.B. of Lynchburg, VA, Carol Payne and husband James of Abbs Valley and Linda Dunn and husband Lee of Bluefield, VA; six grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Pauley of Bluefield, Kamrin Cory Baker of Clintonville, WV, Jeffrey Johnson of Bland Co., Amy Anders and husband Brandon of Bland Co., Ashley White and husband Matt of Ft. Lewis, WA and Zack Webb of Bluefield, VA; two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne White and Alexis White of Ft. Lewis, WA; sister-in-law, Kitty Pauley of Radford, VA; a host of nieces and nephews; and Walter, the miracle cat. The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Friday July 13, 2012 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday July 14, 2012 from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Danny Scott officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where Jack Miller, Jason Miller, Kamrin Baker, Jeffrey Johnson, Michael Coburn and Patrick Coburn will serve as pallbearers.
