John M. Atkins

June 8, 1943 - February 19, 2019

John Marvin Atkins of Bluefield, West Virginia Born June 8, 1943 went to be with his Lord on February 19, 2019. Son of the late Ward Victor and Maggie Bane Atkins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Gladys Atkins Kelley, a brother Ronald Ward Atkins, nephew Ronald Ward Atkins, Jr. and sister, Susie. Survived by his loving wife Mary Alice McGhee Atkins of Bluefield, daughter Vonda Atkins Boothe and husband Ernie of Sinks Grove, WV, son John Dwayne Atkins and wife Melissa Mullins Atkins of Tazewell, VA; grandchildren John Derek Bostic and wife Jessica of Union, KY, Jordonne Mariah Bostic of Alderson, WV, Katelyn Rose Bostic and companion Mitchell Thompson of Alderson, WV, Jeremiah Brannon Bostic of White Sulphur Springs, WV, Brandon Lucas Boothe of Fort Springs, WV, Leslie Marie Mullins and husband Lance of Tazewell, Luke Dwayne Atkins and wife Chelsea of North Tazewell, VA, and Landon Ward Atkins of North Tazewell, VA; thirteen great-grandchildren; Sister-in-law Rachel and husband Sam Dickson, brother-in-law Arthur and wife Wanda McGhee, brother-in-law Aubrey and wife Judy McGhee. Cousins and their families from Little Creek, VA and many nieces and nephews from South Carolina. His favorite passages of scriptures were Psalm 23, Psalm 91 and Psalm 121. Retired Church of God pastor and employee of First Community Bank. Member of Princeton Church of God. John enjoyed history, reading, house projects, good conversation and studying and teaching the Bible. Funeral services will be Saturday February 23, 2019, at the Princeton Church of God at 3:00 PM with the Dr. Ray Hurt and Rev. Greg Whitlow officiating. The Family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M Saturday.
