Scott was a graduate of Mount View High School and was retired from N & S Railroad where he worked in Maintenance and Service. Surviving are his father Frederick Richards and wife Betty and mother Phyllis Richards his beloved wife, his childhood sweetheart of 43 years, married for 39 years Beth Ann Rose Richards, a son Jeffrey Scott Richards, Jr. and Fiancé Mary Blaha of Roanoke, VA and his 11 year old granddaughter Isis Ann Richards of Orlando, FL. half-sister; Sarah Flanders of Portsmouth, VA, nieces; Britny Barker of Virginia Beach, VA and Morgan McCoy of Hampton, sisters Lea Harris and husband Rick of Hardy, VA Julia Fowler and husband Bruce of Hardy, Va and Jamie Shively and husband Ken of Danville, VA brother Terry Richards, Sr. and fiancé Denise Day of Skygusty, WV nephews; Terry Richards, Jr. his wife Trista of Morgantown, WV and Israel Richards and wife Heather of Carolina, WV. Services will be Wednesday November 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Fisher officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Monte Vista Park Cemetery.
