Evangeline “Van” Boothe Poteet

April 11, 1944 - October 27, 2019

Evangeline ”Van” Boothe Poteet Born April 11, 1944 she was the daughter of the late Pierce Boothe and Flossie Steele Boothe. Ms. Poteet was a graduate of Tazewell High School a former member of the Westgate Wesleyan Church, and attended Bluefield Virginia Church of God. Throughout her life the house door was open, the coffee pot was on, and her dinner rolls was what everyone hoped for during any special meal that was prepared. She was a loving mother and grandmother, caregiver for many years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, one brother Luther Boothe, sister Lois Boothe, daughter in law Rita, and Sister n Law Sandy. Survivors include children, Rick McFarland of Bluefield, Virginia, Mary “Toots” Merriner and husband Thomas of New Braunsfel, Texas, Alan McFarland and wife Terresa of Princeton, West Virginia, Mae “Trigger” Bourne and husband Rick of Syracuse, Ohio, Robert Waschler and wife Diane of Falls Mills, Virginia, Jarried McFarland and wife Stephanie of Bluefield, Virginia,. Grandchildren include Matthew McFarland, Robert Merriner and wife Christian, Ricky Bourne and wife Crystal, Constance Dewhurst and husband Chris, Brandon Waschler, Jordan McFarland, Jillian McFarland Jesse Duff and wife Jessica, Marina Lewis and husband Austin. Great Grandchildren include Madelyn Dewhurst, Joshua Dewhurst, Joel Dewhurst, Carson Dewhurst, Kailey Grace Duff, Landon Lewis, Casey Lewis. Brothers include Steve Boothe and wife Marcie of Grapevine, Texas, Russ Boothe and wife Wanda of Bluefield, William “Arnie” of Bluefield, WV, Virginia, Allen Boothe and wife Betty of Bluefield, Virginia. , Craig Boothe and wife Margie of Bluefield, Virginia; and sister-in-law, Sherry Boothe. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, caregivers and nurses, including Frances Blevins, Crystal, Bonnie, Susan, and Lauren. Celebration Service will be on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel Rev. Rick Bourne and Ricky Bourne officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the service hour. The Bluefield Virginia Fire Department will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is invited to the El Patio 523 Commence Dr. Bluefield, Va. following the services, friends will be receiving food at the Banquet entrance from 12- until 2:00. The family requests in lieu of flowers please donate to the Bluefield Virginia Fire Department Membership FUND PO Box 1026 Bluefield, Va. 24605.
