Bluefield, VA – Emma Jean Mays 85 of 307 Hockman Pike Bluefield, VA died July 18, 2022 in a Pikeville, KY hospital. Born in Bluefield, WV March 12, 1937 she was a daughter of the late Daniel Arnold Thompson and Maude Lou Pennington Thompson. She was a homemaker and a member of Parkview Baptist Church. She was an animal lover, enjoyed gardening and was a former Jaycettes. Emma Jean is survived by her husband of 68 years Charles Mays, daughters Sharon Dolinger of Bluefield, VA and Karen Neal (Mike) of Bluefield, WV, a son Ralph Michael Mays (Lea) of Cincinnati, OH, two sisters Maggie Millsap (Ronnie) of Bluefield, VA and Libby Dillon (Ronnie) of Hannah, SC, 5 grandchildren Sarah Kidwell(Mark), Shaun Neal(Melissa), Justin Mays, Kyle Mays(Chanel) and Kristina May-Eaton (Paul), 10 great-grandchildren Lorelai Bishop, Liam Kidwell, Ayden Neal, Brooklyn Neal, Alexia Hannah and Madison Mays, Vivian Mays, Hayes Mays Benjamin Mays and Keelyn Eaton. Funeral services will be conducted Friday July 22, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ronnie Dillon officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Shaun Neal, Mark Kidwell, Justin Mays, Kyle Mays and Paul Eaton. The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to service time.
