Douglas Leroy Wise

Douglas L. Wise, 89, of Bluefield, died on November 24, 2021, at LewisGale Hospital in Salem, Virginia. Douglas was predeceased by his parents, George Wise and Fammie Byrd Wise, brothers Willis and Edward, stepmother Cassie Byrd Wise, and stepsiblings Caroline Jean and Cecil Byrd. He is survived by his loving wife Donna McGraw Wise and stepson John Thompson, and his wife Jessica and their children, John and Benjamin. Additional survivors include his sister Delores Beatty, and sisters-in-law Patricia (Willis) and Bonita (Edward). He is also survived by stepsiblings Judy (Michael) Gibson, Beulah (James) Mitchell, Deborah (Edward) Sandifer, Tommy (Ruth) Byrd, and Donnie Byrd, in addition to many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Douglas was a member of the Living Church of God, Bluefield, West Virginia. Pastor Lenny Bower will officiate over the funeral service on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Mercer Funeral Home in Bluefield, WV. Visitation is scheduled from noon until one p.m., when the service begins. He was an Army veteran and member of American Legion Post 9, Bluefield, WV. Douglas will be interred at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, Virginia, pending scheduling.
