Dora Fowler Hager

June 1, 2022

Dora Fowler Hager, age 91, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 1, 2022. She was born in Iaeger, WV to Edward and Bertie Newman Fowler. She lived in Bluefield, WV from the age of 15 until she moved to Knoxville, TN in 2000 after the passing off her beloved husband of 43 years, Claude Hager, to be with their only child, Robin Hager. Dora was an active member of Airport Road First Church of God in Bluefield, WV and First Church of God on Mahood Ave. in Princeton, WV as well as Knoxville First Church of God in Knoxville, TN. Dora loved serving the Lord and participated in many church activities. She particularly enjoyed being a Sunday School teacher. She was always willing to help family, friends, and neighbors. She was a prayer warrior and studied the Bible faithfully. She enjoyed gospel and bluegrass music. She was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing, and was a great cook. She is survived by her daughter, Robin Hager (Gary Houston) of Knoxville, TN as well as many nieces and nephews scattered around the country. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Claude Hager, and her parents, Edward and Bertie Fowler. Also proceeding her in death were her siblings, Harry Fowler, Hazel Campbell, Sylvia Stackhouse, Ethel Mann, Kermit Fowler, Mildred Fowler, Nellie Frankenfield, Roy Fowler, Ray Fowler, Fred Fowler, Edward Fowler, Jr., and her youngest sister, Imogene Carbaugh, with whom she had a close bond. A very special thanks to Ben Atchley State Veterans Home in Knoxville, TN for providing excellent care and kindness for Dora since 2018. And thank you to Amedysis for providing Hospice Services. A Celebration of Life service, conducted by Rev. Aleta Gass, will be held on Wednesday June 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home 1231 W. Cumberland Rd. Bluefield, WV. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery.
