Bluefield, WV- Clifford Lawrence, Jr., 73, of Bluefield, WV, died Sunday January 10, 2021at his home. Born January 20, 1947 in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late Clifford Lawrence, Sr. and Evelyn AyersFrye. Mr. Lawrence was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had worked as a self-employed contractor and enjoyed woodworking and stained glass. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Lee Lawrence. Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Donnita Lawrence; two children, Nicholas Lee Lawrence of Bluefield, WV, and Krysta Lawrence McPherson and husband Heath of North Carolina; and three grandchildren, Kynzie Leigh McPherson, Rylee Harper McPherson, and Xander Lee Lawrence. A funeral service will be held on Thursday January 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brent Brown and Dr. Don Scott officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from noon until the service hour. Military honors will be rendered by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. A private burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery in Hollybrook, VA where family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
