Betty Joyce Mustard, 88, of Bluefield, WV passed away on Wednesday, June 8th, 2022 at Princeton Healthcare Center with her son Mark and daughter-in-law Kathi by her side. Born May 27th, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Mayme Lindamood Neel. Joyce grew up on the family farm in Bland County, VA. She graduated in 1950 from Ceres High School and attended Radford University. Joyce worked as an X-Ray Technologist at the former Bluefield Sanitarium. Little did Joyce know that a blind date in 1954 would lead her to the love of her life. She married Robert (Bob) Martin Mustard on November 24th, 1955. Joyce and Bob welcomed the first of four sons in 1956. The young couple eventually settled in Bluefield where they raised their family and were blessed with 67 wonderful years of marriage. Their love story was admired by all that knew them. Joyce and Bob enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, and giving back to their community. Joyce was an accomplished Piano player. She played many years for Sunday Church service. Joyce was a talented Tennis player and played at a competitive level. Joyce’s faith was important to her. She was a member of the Edgemont Baptist Church were she and Bob worshipped for many years with many dear friends. Most important to Joyce was her family, she was a dedicated Wife, Mother and Grandmother. Joyce was the glue that held her family together. No matter how large her family grew, she never missed sending a birthday wish or a happy anniversary note. On April 25th, 2022 Bob passed away. 46 days later, Joyce joined Bob in Heaven. Good night Joyce, Good night Bob, may you continue writing your amazing love story in Heaven. In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Todd Marvin Mustard, her Father and Mother-in-law, William and Grace Mustard. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Robert (Marty) Mustard II and wife Karen of Bluefield, WV, Mark Mustard and wife Kathi of Bluefield, VA and Tim Mustard of Raleigh, NC. Joyce was blessed with 9 grandchildren, Travis, Paige, Brandon, Matt, Sean, Alex, Savanah, Bailie and Abby. She was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren, Will, Julia, Lidia, Ben, Evalynn, Amelia, Harper, Jacob, Heidi, JB, and Eli. Joyce is survived by one brother-n-law, Tom Mustard of Princeton WV and one sister-in-law, Lois Mustard of Bluefield, WV. In addition, Joyce leaves behind a host of cousins, her Church family and friends and her loving caretakers at Princeton Healthcare Center. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 13th, 2022, at Mercer Funeral Home in Bluefield, WV with Pastor Scott Holland officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. Monday until the Service hour at Mercer Funeral Home.
