Barbara Marlene Dowell

Barbara Marlene Dowell transitioned on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Princeton Community Hospital after a brief illness. Marlene leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Alphonso (Dee) Dowell; daughter Dionna Dowell; three grandchildren Arionna, Krisalyn, and Chaun Dowell; her mother, Marie Alexander; sister, Sandra Alexander all of Bluefield; and her sister, Olivia, her niece, M. Larria and her nephew, Jeremiah Alexander all of Atlanta Georgia. Marlene was preceded in death by her father HT Alexander. Marlene was educated in Mercer County and graduated from Bluefield State College and Salem University. She taught almost 31 years. Marlene was a faithful member of Scott Street Baptist Church. Services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Mercer Funeral Home. The viewing will be from noon until 1:00 PM, and the service will start at 1:00 PM with Rev. Garry D. Moore Sr., officiating. Interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Facial mask are recommended.
