William D. Cline Sr.

Bluefield, VA- William Daniel Cline, Sr. 67, of Bluefield, VA, died Tuesday October 13, 2015 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Mr. Cline was born November 24, 1947 in Welch, WV. He was of the Methodist faith and had last attended Cumberland Heights Baptist Church. He served six years in the Army National Guard at the Welch detachment. Mr. Cline was a Mason at the McDowell Lodge #112. He worked for General Telephone for 37 ½ years, for Lucent Technologies for one year and Williams Communications for four years and retired in 2001. He was an avid WVU fan, whom he loved to watch with his son, Billy. His daughter was the apple of his eye, who helped him in the last few months of his life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Porter Cline; sister, Barbara Cline Cartwright; brother-in-law, Robert “Pete” Cartwright; and great-nephew, Ian Stroupe. Survivors include his wife, Delois Jenkins "Joker” Cline of Bluefield, VA; daughter, Kara C. Davis of Bluefield, VA; son, William D. Cline, Jr. and wife Misty Short Cline of Bluefield, VA; four beautiful granddaughters whom he loved dearly, Ashlyn B. Davis and special granddaughter, Alexis L. Davis, both of Bluefield, VA, and Paylin N. Cline and Piper P. Cline, both of Bluefield, VA; two special nieces, Lya Cartwright Stroupe and husband Steve of Morgantown, WV, and Amy Jo Cartwright of Morgantown, WV. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday October 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor J. H. Kestner officiaiting. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where Daniel Berry, Zach Short, Michael Harris, Clarence Short, Hunter Cook, and Steve Stroupe will serve as pallbearers. Military graveside rites will be provided by the West Virginia Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P. O.
