Tommy Ray Nunn

Tommy Ray Nunn -Papa, husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and neighbor passed away peacefully on Sunday July 28, 2024 at his home. Born July 25, 1956 in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late Samuel Harrison Nunn and Clara Ballard Nunn. Tommy was an engineer by profession, and he brought that same precision, dedication, and passion to every aspect of his life. He worked in many roles including engineering, quality assurance and marketing management at Hitachi/ABB starting in 1978 and retired in 2016. He had worked for Pemco through the years of 1991-1993, Allied Refrigeration and most recently consulting work for Hitachi, SGB and JST. Tommy was an active member of Bluefield First Church of the Nazarene where he served many roles. He was the church accountant, a board member, greeter and Sunday school teacher. First and foremost, Tommy loved his family. He loved planning get to-gethers, enjoyed holidays and special occasions, celebrating and creating memories at his home. He loved to travel, having been to 48 states in the U.S and traveling abroad. He had been to Switzerland, Spain, Saudi Arabia, and many other countries for work and leisure. Tommy was an avid WVU fan! He enjoyed golfing, riding four wheelers, camping and fishing with those that he loved as well as the quiet time of sitting in his zero-gravity chair in the garage with the door open and the breeze blowing through. His life was a testament to his values, his actions a reflection of his heart, and his legacy a tribute to his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte Nunn. Those left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Donnie Nunn and wife Margaret of Bluefield, VA, Ronnie Nunn and wife Kitty of Bluefield, VA and Michael Nunn and wife Cindy of Bluefield, WV; nieces and nephews, Kim Reece and husband Mike, Shawn Nunn and wife Dee, Dawn Farley and husband Chris, and Corey Nunn and wife Brittany; great-nieces and nephews, Mackenzie Davis and husband Ryan, Chase Reece, Caitlyn Farley, Carter and Clara Nunn, and Emma and Zoey Nunn; the beloved Morehead family from Bland; Jasmine Williams and other extended family; as well as dear neighbors and friends, Cuzzie and Wilfred Mathena. A visitation of family and friends will be held at Mercer Funeral Home on Thursday August 1, 2024 at Mercer Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Sherrill Michael officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in the Hollybrook, VA. Wilfred Mathena, Mike Reece, Chris Farley, Shawn Nunn, Corey Nunn, Ryan Davis, Chase Reece and Carter Nunn will serve as pallbearers and Will Looney as an honorary pallbearer.
