Ruby B. Ware

Bluefield, VA- Ruby B. Ware, 90, of Bluefield, VA, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Dogwood Crossing Senior Living in Tazewell, VA. She will be remembered for her warm spirit, creative talents, and the loved she shared with those around her. Born January 30, 1936 in Inez, KY, Mrs. Ware was a daughter of the late William Burgett and Sadie Harman Burgett. Mrs. Ware was a long-time and devoted member of Edgemont Baptist Church where she was involved with the Davidson Group Circle. Her faith was an important part of her life and a guiding presence in all that she did. Mrs. Ware found great joy in working with her hands and expressing her creativity. She loved ceramics and crocheting, and her artistic touch could be seen in the many pieces she made over the years. From detailed ceramic work to fabric decoupage, she had a special gift for turning simple materials into meaningful creations. During the Christmas season, she was especially known for crafting wisemen for nativity sets-treasured pieces that reflected both her skill and her faith. She was a wonderful baker, whose kitchen was often filled with the comforting aroma of homemade cakes and Christmas candy. Her baked goods brought joy to family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of sharing them, and her recipes and traditions will be lovingly remembered. Mrs. Ware’s three grandchildren were the center of her universe, and she cherished every moment that she spent with them. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Brady “Neal” Ware; her sister, Ruth Cassady; and niece, Brenda Akers. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 58 years, Connel J. “C.J.” Ware of Bluefield, VA; son, Connel “Dale” Ware and wife Susan of Greensboro, NC; three grandchildren, Brock Ware and wife Taryn of Scottsville, VA, Sharon Ware of Kernersville, NC, and Abby Ware of Wilmington, NC; and nephews, William “Bill” Cassady and wife Susie, Chris Cassady and wife Karen, Randy Cassady and wife Gail. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 8, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home with Dr. Chris Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.
