Pamala Jane Godbey

Pamala J. Oliver Godbey 68, was suddenly taken home with God on August 12th, 2018. She was enjoying life with her husband doing what she loved when she got the call. Her devotion to her family and enjoying life to the fullest was known to all those in her life. Pam was born to the late John Oliver and Phyllis Arney Oliver, of Bluefield W.V. on December 26th, 1949. She was immersed in different classes, gardening, and community after her retirement in 2010 from the Department of Transportation where she worked as a school bus driver for many years in Tazewell County. She prided herself in being an animal advocate and was always reaching out to help any creature or person she seen in need. Pam was a graduate of Bluefield High School and attended Bluefield State College and a former member of Bluefield and Monroe County CEOS and of Summers County for the past several years and past treasurer of Beckley area CEOS. She was a current Member of the Lindside CEOS, where she wrote articles for the local newspaper and worked on their scrapbook, she also taught lessons and helped with community projects. Pam also, attended the Flint Chapel Baptist Church. Pam was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her best friend who was always by her side, Robert K. Godbey Sr., on March 26th, 1976. Married 42 years, they were together when the lights dimmed here on earth, her motorcycle ride was cut short for another journey. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Jeffrey Lyn Oliver. Pam is survived by her husband Robert K. Godbey Sr. of Wayside, W.V.; “step-sons Robert K. Godbey Jr. (Sheila) of Beaver, W.V.; son Michael B. Godbey Sr. of Flat Top, W.V.; 2 step grandsons; Michael Ratliff of Crab Orchard and Michael Godbey, Jr. of Sophia, 2 step granddaughters; Cassi Wise (Michael) of Columbus, Indiana and Ashley Godbey of Beaver; step great-grandson Caige Ratcliff of Craab Orchard and step great-granddaughter; Lyla Godbey of Sophia. Memorial services will be Friday August 17, 2018 at 7:00 PM at the mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Minister James Wentz officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 6:00 – 7:00 PM.
