Bluefield - Michelina (Mickey) Monaco Iacullo, 91 of 2222 Fairfield Avenue, Bluefield, WV went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 8th, 2011. Mickey was a devout Catholic and had a special love and devotion for the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was only fitting that she died peacefully on the feast day of the Immaculate Conception. Mickey was a joy and an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She shared her love by cooking for family and friends, playing cards, and gifting her hand-sewn items. She truly “Enjoyed Being”. Mickey was born January 23rd, 1920 in Sant’ Agata di Puglia, Italy and came to Bluefield, WV at the age of 7. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic School and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mickey married Anthony Iacullo, of Cincinnati, OH, where they made their home. Widowed after 26 years of marriage, Mickey was left to raise her 5 children and later returned to Bluefield. At age 55, Mickey courageously began her work career by going back to school and learning to type. She worked as a receptionist at Bluefield Multi Care Nursing Home Facility, until she retired at the age of 70. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Joanne Monaco; her brother, Angelo Monaco; her sister, Annette Monaco Battaglino; and her husband, Anthony Iacullo. Survivors include her daughters: Grace Wetterman and Ed, Millersville MD; Joanne Smith and Ron, Cincinnati OH; Mary Kohnen and Tom, Amelia, OH; Annette Morgan and Claude, Bluefield WV; and her son, Michael Iacullo and Ragan of Moon Township, PA; 9 grandchildren, Chris and Kevin Wetterman, Ron Smith, Angela Kohnen Nicodemus, Monica Kohnen, Courtney and Cameron Morgan, Haley and Garrett Iacullo; 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joan Monaco; nieces, Mary Jo Babbitt, Jane Tenney, Ann Robinson, and Laura Rogers; nephews, Frank, Michael, and John Monaco; and many great nieces and nephews. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Princeton, WV. Pallbearers will be family, including grandsons and nephews. Visitation will be at Mercer Funeral Home, Sunday, December 11th, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm followed by a Christian Wake Service at 8:00pm officiated by Father Paul Wharton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 12th, at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield, WV.
