Mary Stone Posey Kelley

Bluefield, WV- Mary Stone Posey Kelley, of Bluefield, WV, died Sunday December 12, 2010 at a Bluefield hospital. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of the late Louis Remson de Roade and Katherine Ellen Posey. Mrs. Kelley had been a resident of Bluefield for 50 years, moving here from Maryland. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a member and past president of St. Anne’s Altar Society. Mrs. Kelley was a member of a bridge club and the Bluefield Garden Club. She was a longtime volunteer at Bluefield Regional Medical Center and was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, as well as the West Virginia Chapter. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing Lady’s Day at Bluefield Country Club where she was the first woman to ever have a hole-in-one. Mrs. Kelley was also a member of the E.S.P. Investment Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine P. Nolan. Survivors include her husband, Robert V. Kelley, of Bluefield; three children, Katherine Posey Kelley of Wheaton, MD, David B. Kelley and his wife Karen D. Kelley of Bluefield, VA and Martha Stone Kelley of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren, Maggie Kelley, Francie Kelley, Caroline Kelley and David Kelley, Jr. all of Bluefield, VA; one niece, Christina N. Helwig of Williamsburg, VA; and numerous cousins and extended family in Maryland. A Memorial Mass will be conducted on Wednesday December 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield with Father Paul Wharton officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon at the home of David and Karen Kelley, 658 Tanager Drive, Bluefield, VA. Inurnment will be at St. Ignatius in southern Maryland at a later date.
