Mary Griffith Boyce

Bluefield, WV - Mary Ann Griffith Boyce 86 of Bluefield, WV died Friday June 8, 2012 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, surrounded with the love of all of her family. Born September 3, 1925 in Keystone, WV she was the only child of Ralph Waldo Griffith and Mable Nay Griffith Frazier. Mary Ann grew up in Grundy, VA and was educated in Buchannan County Schools. She was a graduate of Ward Belmont College (now Belmont University) in Nashville, TN. Active in both civic and community affairs, Mary Ann was an active Member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and for over 25 years sang in the Church choir and was a bible study leader for church circles. She was Past Regent of the John Chapman Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution and had been a member for over fifty years. She was past president of Bluefield Civic League, Bluefield Lioness Club, Mercer County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and former member of the Pink Dogwood Garden Club. She was named in Personalities of the South for her work in the community.In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 61 ½ years, Gerald Ross Boyce. She is survived by two sons; Gerald Ross Boyce, II (Gary) and his wife Debbie of Bluefield, WV and Alan N. Boyce and his wife Beth of Salem, VA, four grandchildren; Mary Lynn Boyce of Bluefield, WV, Lisa Boyce Watkins and her husband Shane of Bluefield, Alan N. Boyce, II and his wife Jennifer of Chicago, IL and Alyson Boyce Stanton and her husband Dr. Ken Stanton of Ft. Collins, CO, step grandson Brian Minnick and his wife Heather of Kansas City, MO, great grandchildren; Austin Boyce , Braden Watkins and Kensley Grace Watkins, all of Bluefield, and step great grandson Cody Minnick of Kansas City, MO, brother in law Carlton Boyce of West Union, WV and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday June 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Mercer Funeral Home with Rev. Susan Rector officiating. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley where family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
