Margie Hurst

Bluefield, WV- Margie Lee Williams Hurst, 81, of 1416 Southview Drive, Bluefield, WV, died Friday October 17, 2008 at Westwood Center in Bluefield, VA. Born March 16, 1927 in Elkhorn, WV, she was a daughter of the late George and Naomi Pickett Williams of Upland. Mrs. Hurst was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith. She was raised in Upland and Crozier. She was a good woman who loved her family and she liked to take care of others. Mrs. Hurst was proud of her Elkhorn class reunion and she loved to read. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy Williams of Wavaly, NE, Bill Williams of Shawsville, VA and Clarence "Punk" Williams of Bluewell, WV. Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Charles A. Hurst of Bluefield, WV; two children Cheryl (Jerry) Staton of Ormond Beach, FL and Chip (Theresa) Hurst of Easley, SC; grandchildren, Steven K. (Samantha) Harry of Rural Retreat, VA, Amy Harry (Jimmy) Compton of Bastian, VA, Angela Hurst (Travis) Nalley of Easley, SC; great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Alex Compton of Bastian, VA, Andrew Harry of Rural Retreat, VA and Gianna Nalley of Easley, SC; brothers, June (Ida Lou) Williams of Shawville, VA and Joe (Bettie) Williams of Manassas, VA; sister, Hazel (late Jim) Chumley of Oxen Hill, MD; sisters-in-law, Mildred (late Bill) Williams of Shawsville, VA, Helen (late Clarence "Punk") Williams of Bluewell, WV and Phyllis (late Roy) Williams; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Sunday evening October 19, 2008 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday October 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. D. Homer Stewart officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Phillip Williams, David Williams, Bill Ryan, Danny Chumley, Jimmy Williams and Mike Hicks.
