Margaret Greene Blankenship

Newport News, VA- Margaret Virginia Greene Blankenship, widow of Charles Scott Blankenship, died April 6, 2011 at Mary Immaculate Hospital. Born December 31, 1914 in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of Charles William and Lillian Tate Greene. She attended public schools in Bluefield and was married to Scott on August 18, 1931. After completing their family and retiring in Bluefield, she and Scott moved to Novato, CA in 1972. There she continued her favorite work in retail sales. In 1980, she and her sisters Mildred and Louise retired in Durham, NC. After her sisters passed, Margaret moved to Chambrel at Williamsburg, VA. in an independent living status in 2004. In March 2011, Margaret moved to Warwick Forest's Keswick Place in Newport News, VA. She was very active in Church functions during her life and had continued her relationship with Yates Baptist Church in Durham, NC. Mrs. Blankenship was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; her son Ronald Scott and wife Shirley; and grandson Michael Kelly Blankenship; her sisters Mildred G. Craft and Louise G. Flynn; her brother William Greene, Jr.; and daughter-in-law Gayle K. Blankenship. Survivors include two sons: J. Ted Blankenship and wife Sally of Valencia, CA; and Charles P. Blankenship of Poquoson, VA.; three grandsons: James S. Blankenship and wife, Timmarie of Alturas, CA, Charles P. Blankenship Jr. and wife, Belinda of Cincinnati, OH and Timothy K. Blankenship and wife, Julie of Key Biscayne, FL; one granddaughter Kimberly A. Ensing and husband, Mark W. of Santa Clarita, CA; twelve great grandsons and granddaughters: Michael J., McKenzie J., Matthew, Max, and Maggie Blankenship of Alturas, CA,; Kaytlann J. Blankenship and Mitchell J. & Kaden Ensing of Santa Clarita, CA; Connor C., William A. S., Benjamin K. and John T. Blankenship of Cincinnati, OH. The family is appreciative of the kindness and support provided to Mother during her recent illness by the staff of Warwick Forest Gardens, Rehabilitation and Extended Care. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Mercer Funeral Home in Bluefield, WV at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. The family will receive friends in the funeral home at 1:30 PM. A private burial will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to your favorite charity.
