Laken Nicole Alley

Laken Nicole Alley, 29, of Bluefield, VA passed away peacefully on January 1, 2023. Although she has departed this world far too soon, we know she was surrounded by the heavenly angels as she entered her eternal home. Laken was born on June 16, 1993 in Bluefield, WV to her loving and faithful mother Teresa Alley of Bluefield, VA and father Clifton Henderson of Bluefield, WV. She was a lifelong resident of Bluefield, VA and a proud, 2011 Graham High School Graduate. After attending school, Laken always had a strong work ethic and was currently employed by ResCare Home Care in Princeton, WV. Because of her loving nature, many of her clients became good friends. To know Laken was to know that she had a loving heart and was a friend to everyone. She was fast to forgive and always faithful to those she loved. Her bright smile and shining personality brought joy to everyone in her presence. She was of the Christian faith and dedicated her life to the Lord when she chose to be baptized as a teen. Laken was an enthusiastic fan of the North Carolina Tarheels and would often be seen wearing that baby blue to represent her team. She also had a love for 90’s R&B music and was always singing. Although she had many hobbies and interest, her greatest joy in life was being a loving mother to her son. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Thomas Alley, Jr. and Calvin Peoples. In addition to her parents, those left to cherish Laken’s life is her precious son, Kyree of the home; brother and best friend, Jordan Alley of Bluefield, VA; Half-siblings, Clifton Henderson, Jr., Ciahna Henderson, Chiera Henderson, Civantae Henderson, Cacera Henderson, Aleaha Henderson, Malik Harris, Turquandre Robinson, and Jarenette Robinson, all of Bluefield, WV, and Cynthaja Henderson, of Charlotte, NC; Grandmothers Wanda Alley of Bluefield, VA, and Brenda Henderson of Bluefield, WV; and Great- Grandmother Mary Alley of Bluefield, VA. Laken also leaves behind many close friends and family including special cousins Jevante and Janesha Stevens. A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 14, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Philip White officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. Burial will be at Grandview Memory Gardens where Jordan Alley, Jevante Stevens, Civantae Henderson, Malik Harris, Shawn Harris, Sam Huckleberry, Josh Calfee, and Delbert Alexander will serve as pallbearers.
