Jane Kearns

Bluefield, VA - Jane Mays Kearns 86 of Westwood Healthcare Center Bluefield, VA and formerly of West Cumberland Road Bluefield, WV died Friday October 11, 2013 at Westwood. Born August 2, 1927 in Bluefield, WV she was the daughter of the late Carson Mays and Virginia Grace Morris Mays. Jane was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Anne’s Altar Society. She attended Marshall University and Mercer County Vocational Technical School where she earned her nursing degree and then worked at Bluefield Regional Medical Center as a L.P.N. for 14 years. In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband Walter Joseph Kearns, a daughter Elizabeth Aker and a son Joseph Scott Kearns. She is survived by daughters Suzanne Cannaday of Princeton, WV, Kathryn Goodwin and her husband Ron of Bluefield, WV and Carolyn Hayes and her husband Doug of Bluefield, WV, 9 grandchildren; Sarah Kuck and her husband Shawn of Fargo, NN, Jessica Rivers and her husband Jared of Fargo, ND, Mark Cannaday of Grand Forks, ND, Seth Hayes and his wife Emily of Morgantown, WV, Ashby Hayes and his wife Bri of Raleigh, NC, Madison Hayes of Roanoke, VA, Aaron Kearns of Charlotte, NC, Jennifer Aker of Charlotte, NC and Courtney Heldreth of Bluefield, WV, 22 great-grandchildren and a cousin Sally Alvarez of Bluefield, WV. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday October 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Greg Lyttle as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley where Seth Hayes, Ashby Hayes, Doug Hayes, Neal Garton, Ron Goodwin, Aaron Kearns and Bill Heldreth will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Monday October 14 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour at the Church.
