Jacqueline Shrewsbury

Hiwassee, VA- Jacqueline Bone Shrewsbury, 79, went home to her Savior and Lord in heaven, September 25, 2015 with her family by her side, following a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Bluefield, West Virginia, the daughter of Jack and Frances Bone, and lived in Bluefield until retiring to Claytor Lake in 2005. Jacqueline graduated from Bluefield High School in 1954 and married the love of her life, J.R. Shrewsbury in 1954. They just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary September 25, 2015. Jacqueline is survived by her loving and devoted husband, J.R. Shrewsbury, and two daughters, Tina S. Clendenin of Bluefield, West Virginia, and Teresa s. Cole also of Bluefield West Virginia. Three grandchildren, Lori Beth Clendenin and husband Charles Lowe; Jason Paul Cole and wife Jessica; Lee William Cole and Wife Laura, all of Bluefield, West Virginia. One aunt, Mrs. (Harold) Edna Bone. Four cousins, Marsha Bone Houchins of Bluefield, West Virginia; Monty Bone of Bluefield, Virginia; Ronnie Bone; Bobbie Jo Bone Lawrence of Georgia; and Barbara Dakin Webster of Zuni Virginia; nieces and nephews, and many close friends. She was a member and officer of the Rhododendron Garden Club for years and loved her members and the activities very much. She was extremely passionate about her service of twenty plus years as a volunteer for Bluefield Regional Medical Center. She was an avid dog lover and was always the neighborhood dog's favorite "go to person". Visitation will be at Mercer Funeral Home on Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be at First Christian Church, Bluefield, West Virginia, with The Reverend Doug McDaniel officiating on September 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM Entombment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers are Charles Lowe, George Williamson, Carl Hubbard, Monty Bone, Wayne Phillips, and Doug Clendenin. Honorary Pallbearers are Michael Gibson, Sam Gattuso, Ernest Gattuso, Marlin Douglas, Robert Mustard, Bob Deskins, and Joe Swim.
