Isabelle Wallace

Bluefield, WV- Isabelle Wallace, 84, of 646 Bull Tail Hollow Road, and formerly of 1900 Princeton Avenue, Bluefield, WV, died Saturday January 22, 2011 at her home. Born March 16, 1926 in Whitewood, VA, she was a daughter of the late Dewey William Boyd and Virginia Matney Boyd. Mrs. Wallace was a longtime resident of the area. She was of the Christian faith and was a homemaker. She was very proud of her 14 children, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wallace was known as “Nanny” to everyone and she treated everyone like family. She was a very giving person and never took from anyone. She loved babies, no matter who’s they were. Mrs. Wallace enjoyed reading, flowers and bird watching. She loved the beach, sitting in the sun and collecting seashells. She made everyone who visited her home feel welcome and loved to cook for those who visited. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Wallace, Sr.; one son, Darrell Wayne Wallace; one daughter, Margaret Grace Vargas; grandchildren, Katherine Riley Wallace and McDaniel “Danny” Brooks, Jr; and siblings, Reece Boyd and Elsie Peck. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Doris Brooks (Dan), Geneva Wallace, James E. Wallace, Jr. (Tina), Carmelita Robertson, Gloria Jane Honaker (Howard), Dewey “Bill” Daniel Wallace, Rodney T. Wallace (Shelby), Michael R. Wallace, Marsha Albright (Mike), Cathy Wallace Proffitt (Calvin), Mary M. Baker of the home, and Melinda Wallace Simms (Raymond); two sisters, Nora Filler (James) and Betty Boyd McDaris; two brothers, Robert Boyd (Ruth) and Joseph Boyd (Jan); 63 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a special grandson, Michael Brandon Baker of the home. She was also known as “Nanny” to numerous others and is survived by a host of extended family. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday January 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen A. Hammond officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery where grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
