Harry Carson Thacker Bluefield, WV- On February 22, 2008 Harry was released from his flawed earthly body into the loving arms of Jesus.???? Born July 19, 1928 in Bluefield he was a son of the late Ernest C. and Nina Lyon Thacker.? He attended Bluefield High School and Bluefield State College.? He spent his entire 41-year career, beginning while he was still in high school, with N&W Railway.? He retired from Norfolk Southern in 1987 as Division Engineer of Construction.???? Harry was a humble and gentle man, a dependable and loving son and brother and was dedicated to his wife and daughters.? He was always thinking of others and helping in any way he could. ???? He belonged to Greenview United Methodist Church, holding several positions thru the years including working with the youth.? He was a member of Masonic Lodge #85, Kentucky Colonels, and was an avid golfer at Wolf Creek Golf Club.???? Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Juanita Davis Thacker, to whom he was devoted; one sister, Jane Spencer of Abingdon, VA; two daughters, Patsy Ann Cox and Nancy Anita Bailey and her husband Steve, both of Bluefield; four grandchildren, Rhonda Cox Bailey and husband Richard of Cherryville, NC, Leslie Hurt and her husband Les of Creedmoore, NC, Brian Cox and his wife Tamy of Bluefield and Shaun Bailey and his wife Tabitha of Bluefield, WV; ten great-grandchildren and close extended family, co-workers and many friends.???? Harry spent his final time on Earth as a resident of Princeton Health Care Center where he received excellent and loving care for which his family will always be grateful.???? Funeral services will be conducted on Monday February 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenview United Methodist Church in Green Valley with Rev. D. Homer Stewart officiating.? ???? Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.? Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by Bluefield-Mercer Lodge #85 A.F. & A.M. ???? Masons will serve as pallbearers.? Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Bailey, Brian Cox, Shaun Bailey, Richard Bailey, Les Hurt and Joshua Hurt.? ???? The family will receive friends at?Mercer Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon, February 24th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.????
