Fred Kinder,

Bluefield, WV- Fred R. Kinder, 88, of Bluefield, WV, went home to be with his heavenly Father on Monday September 13, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late George W. and Mary Payne Kinder. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Mabel and Gladys; and five brothers, Paul, Ed, Robert, Spencer and Walter Kinder, all of Bluefield. Fred was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Air Force. He was a retired heavy equipment operator with Corte Construction and Swope Construction. He was instrumental in the excavating work for Bluefield Regional Medical Center and had worked all over Mercer, McDowell, Raleigh and Fayette Counties in West Virginia, and Bland and Wythe Counties in Virginia. Fred was a member of Mountain View Church of Christ. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Alice “Frankie” Kinder; one daughter, Susan Clark of Bluefield, WV; two sons, Fred R. Kinder, Jr. and his wife Christy of Princeton, WV and G. Robert Kinder and his wife Robin of North Tazewell, VA; three grandchildren, Daffaney Tibbs and husband Shane of Bluefield, VA, Junior Clark of Bluefield and Brent Kinder of Princeton; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Sam Tibbs of Bluefield, VA; and three special little angels, Elaine, Cathleen and Cerria. The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, September 15, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday September 16, 2010 at 11:00 am from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Beckett and Minister Bill Boyd officiating. Music will be provided by Sammy Andrews. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where Anthony Tiller, Aaron Bowman, Ronnie Woolridge, Larry Blankenship, Shane Tibbs and Junior Clark will serve as pallbearers. Military graveside rites will be rendered by the West Virginia Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veteran’s Council.
