Frances Ann Miller Cole

Bluefield, WV- Frances Ann Miller Cole, 99, of 712 Heatherwood Road, Bluefield, WV, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday August 29, 2017. Mrs. Cole was born in Spanishburg, WV, the daughter of William O. and Mary Alice Miller. After graduating with honors from Bramwell High School, she acquired her professional Business Teacher’s Certificate, majoring in Business Administration, after which she taught Bible for six years in Bluefield public schools and later was employed as a Business Teacher at Bluefield High School until her retirement. During her teaching years, she participated in numerous civic organizations, was a Girl Scout leader, active in PTO, a member of Little Gardens Club at which time she acquired her certificate as a National Flower Show Judge and won a number of awards for flower arranging. Frances was a charter member of Edgemont Baptist Church, Bluefield, WV, where she faithfully served on a number of committees, taught Sunday school, New Members and Training Union classes, and was active in her Circle and Bible Study classes. Her pride and joy were her two daughters, six grandsons, 11 great-grandchildren, and church activities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Holbrook Cole; daughter, Brenda Holbrook Meyer; and four sisters, Helen Harris, Hazel Harris, Mabel Harris, and Athaline Niswander. Mrs. Cole is survived by one daughter, Marianne Chris Robinson and husband Mike of Abingdon, VA; six grandsons, Henry Jones and wife Kimberly, John Jones, Douglas Jones and wife Tiffany, Michael Robinson, Mark Robinson and wife Tara, Matthew Robinson and wife Lynn; eleven great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Ann Marie Sudduth of Fresno, CA. A funeral service will be held on Friday September 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from Edgemont Baptist Church, 2507 Jefferson Street Ext., Bluefield, WV with Dr. Hugh Cole officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery where grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Cole requested that memorial contributions be sent to Edgemont Baptist Church, 2507 Jefferson Street Ext., Bluefield, WV 24701.
