Farley "Bud" Litton

Burlington, NC- Farley Kirk "Bud" Litton, Jr., 74 of 3284 Mansfield Road, Burlington, NC, and formerly of Bluefield, WV, died Tuesday April 28, 2009 in a Burlington hospital. Born January 24, 1935 in Bluefield, WV, he was the son of the late Farley Kirk Litton Sr. and Vivian Loise Floyd Litton (Elmore). He was retired from R& T Electric in Falls Mills, VA, Stadler Hams of Burlington, NC, and was a beloved member of the Gibsonville NC Police Department. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Shriner's, the Moose Lodge, and the Elks Club. He coached 10 years for Bluefield Recreation Department, including baseball, football, and basketball. He was a member of Edgemont Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his father, mother and brother Jim Broyles, step-father Harry Tracy Elmore, grandfather William "Pop" Floyd, and grandmothers Thelma Floyd, and Cynthia Litton Stuart. He is survived by his spouse of 50 years, Alma Sue Litton, brothers, Norman Galyon of Princeton, WV, Don Elmore of Wytheville, VA, sons Farley Kirk Litton III and fianc? Janice Dove Hodge of Christiansburg, Va. and Tracy Edward Litton and wife Charlotte Ann Litton of Owings, Md., grandchildren Crystie Currie, Greg Litton of Christiansburg, Va., Kayla Litton, Joshua Litton of Owings, Md., and Nicole Hodge, Ashley Hodge of Christiansburg, Va., great-grandchildren David Lee Currie and Aiden Gregory Currie of Christiansburg, Va, mother in-law Hazel "Mom" Mullins, and aunt Bonnie Pruett. The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Friday evening May 1, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday May 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Beckett officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Princeton where Greg Litton, Joshua Litton, Mark Sands, Steve Mullins, Jimmy Broyles, Billy McKinney, and Marty Gearheart will serve as pallbearers. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the West Virginia Army Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veteran's Council.
