Edith R. Doyle Blackburn

Princeton, WV- Edith R. Doyle Blackburn passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Princeton Health Care at the age of 86 after a long illness. She was born November 7, 1929 in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Elsie Doyle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Ernest R. Blackburn, her sisters Mabel Doyle and Ruth Davis, brothers Billy Doyle and David Doyle, a grandson David Messenger and great granddaughter Alexis Castle. She was a member of Central Christian Church, Wooster, OH, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 24 years. She also served as a Brownie Scout and Girl Scout leader as her children were growing up. After moving to West Virginia she became a member of Maple View Church of Christ and helped teach the ladies class there. Surviving are her three children Deborah (Charles) Goins, Jr. of Bluefield, WV, Melissa Pertee of Wooster, OH, Sharon (Duane) Ahrens of Wooster, OH and a granddaughter Cassie (Pat) Castle of Princeton who she raised as her own. Grandchildren Eric (Missy) Ahrens of Lake Charles, LA, Angela (Kermit) Davis of Princeton, WV, Jennifer (Mike) Englehaupt of Las Vegas, NV, Laurie (Kenny) Adams of Bluefield, WV, Jason (Kelly) Ahrens of Wooster, OH, Mark (Mei) Ahrens of Las Vegas, NV Brayndon Pyle of Wooster, OH, Amanda (Chad) Enkemann of Wooster, OH, Charles (Paula) Goins, III of Flat Top, WV and16 great grandchildren including Tristan Castle “her baby” and the light of her life; brother Ernest (Faye) Doyle, Jr. of Bluefield, WV and sister Jean Boothe of Bluefield, WV, special friends Larry and Barb Yates of Massilon, OH who was like a daughter to her, her special friends at PCH Lisa Hill, her special aids Candace and Crystal who made her last days special. Funeral services will be conducted Friday January 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Tony Reed and Caleb Penwell officiating. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley.
