Earl Lively

Bluefield, WV- Earl Thomas “Tom” Lively, 92, of Bluefield, WV, passed away at his home on Wednesday June 2, 2010. Mr. Lively was born on January 16, 1918 in Marie, WV. He was a ministerial servant of the Bluefield Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He devoted his life to serving Jehovah for over 28 years. He loved talking to people and teaching them about the true God, Jehovah. He wanted people to know that Jehovah is a loving God and will soon wipe out all wickedness, death, pain and sorrow from the earth forever as stated in Revelation 21:3,4, and that soon the earth will be a paradise filled with perfect people who will live forever in peace and security under the reign of Jehovah’s son, Jesus Christ. Mr. Lively was described by many as an humble, meek, loving, gentleman. He enjoyed life. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Mr. Lively was a retired Hostler with N&W Railroad and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gertrude Lively and first-born daughter, Ruby Helen Lively. Left to cherish his memory are his five children, Alice Lively, Tommy Lively and wife Stella, Rita Davis and husband Clay, Jackie Lively, and Marvin Lively and his companion Sherry, all of Bluefield, WV; three grandchildren, Michael Lively, Melissa Sesco and husband Lynn, Kristopher Gibson and fiancé Christine Smerecki of Paramus, NJ; three great-grandchildren, Tori Sesco, Gabe Sesco and Colton Lively; two sisters-in-law, Jane Green of Floyd, VA and Ann Addair of Concord, NC; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday June 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Larry McClintock officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton where Tommy Lively, Michael Lively, Lynn Sesco, Dickie Beaman,Clay Davis and Philip White will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Friday evening, June 4, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, West Virginia Chapter, 1111 Lee Street East, Charleston, WV 25301.
