Bluefield, WV- Dorothy Hawkins Harbage, 82, of The Havens in Princeton, and formerly of Bluefield, WV, went to be home with her Lord and Savior on Thursday February 28, 2008 in a Bluefield hospital. ???? Mrs. Harbage was born at Five Oaks, VA (near Tazewell) on August 2, 1925.? She was a daughter of the late William R. and Maggie Jones Hawkins.? ???? She attended schools in Tazewell, graduating from Tazewell High School.? She chose to work in the secretarial profession for most of her employment years.? She was an accountant at Beavers' Dairy, secretary to the President of Jewell Ridge Coal Sales, and then became secretary to the President of Jewell Ridge Coal Corporation, a position she held for 14 years.? She later held secretarial positions at First National Bank of Bluefield, now First Century Bank; The University of Georgia Plant Pathology Department and the Veterinarian College.? She also worked at Guardtronics in Fort Smith, Arkansas; First Federal Savings and Loan, Fayetteville, WV, and retired as a secretary at Commercial Bank of Bluefield. ???? Mrs. Harbage was a member of National Secretary's Association and served as West Virginia's Vice President.? She was a Vice President of the Baptist Business Women's Federation.? Before her illness, she served on the Board of Directors of Bible in the Schools and held the position of secretary.? She was also a previous member of First Baptist Church where she served as Church Secretary for four years. Mrs. Harbage is a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bluefield, WV and served in numerous positions including President of Presbyterian Women and was a Circle Bible Teacher.? ???? She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Harbage; one daughter, Patricia Brown; two brothers, Claude and Garland Hawkins; and a sister who died at birth, Velvet Kathleen. ???? Survivors include one son Bob Harbage and his wife Marilyn Harbage of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Zachary Harbage, Peter Harbage and Ryan Harbage and his wife Laura Fischer-Harbage, Damien Brown, Tammy Silva and her husband Michael and Nathan Brown; great grandchildren, Evan Fischer Harbage, Ethan Brown and Hayden Brown, Justin Brown and Susanne Healy, James and Molly Brown, Robert and Alyssa Silva; son-in-law, Jeff Brown and special friends, Ron and Linda, Sarah and Ryan Whalen. ???? Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday March 1, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. from Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Howard Finkel officiating.? The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services. ???? Burial will be private. ????
