Debbie Louise Woods

Debbie Louise Woods, 61, originally from Bluefield, WV, peacefully transitioned to her eternal home on March 27, 2025, surrounded by loved ones in Christiansburg, VA, where she resided for the past two years. Debbie was a dedicated member of House of Prayer, Inc. in Bluefield, WV, where she deeply cherished attending and participating in Sunday school with the late Pastor, Bishop George Heartwell and close friend Elder Berkley Hopkins. She dedicated her life to serving others through cooking, crocheting, and heartfelt care. Her faith in God's strength guided her daily, and her holiday gatherings were known for joy, laughter, abundant love, and delicious food. Throughout her career, Debbie compassionately served as a Dietary Manager in Douglasville, GA, and later as a home health aide in Bluefield, WV, touching many lives with her kindness. Debbie was preceded in death by her first husband, James Carter; her mother, Roberta McGue; husband, Allen Woods; and brother, Timothy Sinkford. She leaves behind her devoted daughter, Tamara Allison (James) of Christiansburg, VA; step-daughters, Shenella Sanusi (Saheed) of Snellville, GA, and Jasiri Carter of Newark, NJ; beloved grandchildren Brianna Carter (Carlos) of Roanoke, VA, Amina Udonkang, Keleiah Valentine, Shadae' Valentine, and Isaiah Valentine, all of Christiansburg, VA, Jathan Buchanan and Janiya Buchanan of Snellville, GA; great-grandson Azai' Johnson of Roanoke, VA; loving siblings Sylvia Marrs, Jackie McGue, Karen McGue, and Louis McGue all of Bluefield, WV, Donnella Green of Baltimore, MD, and Jerry Sinkford (Capaita) of Roanoke, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends. Debbie's favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Despite life's circumstances, this scripture was her daily encouragement and reflected her deep reliance on God's faithful presence. Her generous spirit and loving heart will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held on April 5, 2025, at House of Prayer, Inc., located at 214 Church St., Bluefield, WV 24701. Viewing will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM.
