Christopher Shaun Hancock

Bluefield, WV – Christopher “Shaun” Hancock, 41, of Bluefield, WV, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Born December 12, 1984, in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of Daniel Hancock, Sr. of Bluefield, WV and the late Dolly Lee Dailey Hancock. Shaun was a loving and devoted family man whose greatest joy in life was his family. He was a proud husband to Amanda and a dedicated father to Mandy, Shauna, and Emily, who meant everything to him. Shaun had a big heart and a personality that could light up any room. He was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need and was always there when family or friends needed him. He especially cherished the time he spent talking with his dad, often calling just to discuss what the weather was going to be like. Those conversations meant a lot to him and were a special part of their bond. Shaun also loved Christmas and carried that joy with him all year long, sometimes putting his Christmas tree up before fall was even over because he simply loved the season and the happiness it brought. Shaun shared a close relationship with his Uncle Joey, and the two spent many days together buying scrap cars and hauling them to the crusher, enjoying the time they spent side by side. He also held a very special place in his heart for his great-nephew Brayden, whom he loved as a son. Shaun will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and the deep love he had for his family. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and warmth to those around him, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his mother, Dolly Lee Dailey Hancock, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Blanche McGuire; and sister, Wanda Hancock. Survivors include his wife, Amanda D. Hancock; three children, Mandy (Joseph), Shauna, and Emily Hancock; six sisters, Juanita Dailey (Dirt Bike), Dolly Dailey (Jackie), Tina Hancock, Ashley Hancock (Gerold), Susan Hancock (Roleek), Angela Hancock; two brothers, Daniel Hancock, Jr. (Stayce) and Herman Hancock; special uncle, Joey Dailey; great-nephew who he thought of as a son, Brayden; best friend who he considered his big brother, Mike Jones; special friends, Derick Flack and Jamie Cochran; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry White officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, VA where Mandy Hancock, David Hancock Jr., Gerold Flack, Shane Carter, Landon Hancock, Gerold Flack Jr., and Herman Hancock will serve as pallbearers.
