Cecil M. "Mack" Estep Sr.

Cecil M. “Mack” Estep, Sr., moved to his heavenly home on Wednesday August 21, 2024. He grew up in Bastian, VA, where he spent a lot of time with his PaPaw Pauley, his best friend, his grandmother, uncles, and aunts. Mack graduated at Rocky Gap High School in 1956 and went to McClain’s Business College for one year. He worked at different tire companies over the years. Mack opened Estep Tire & Auto Center 33 years ago. His son Tom Estep worked with his dad, running Estep Tire. His sons Tony and Junior jointed later, forming a great team. Mack saw his customers as friends. He was proud of his firetrucks and his Model T car. He loved collecting old things, loved history, and reminiscing about his childhood days-especially memories he had of his mother. Mack enjoyed listening to music. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruth Estep of Bluefield, WV; his maternal grandparents, Albert and Ethel Pauley of Bastian, VA; Thomas and Lucinda Estep of Bastian, VA; and grandson, Derek Lee Hylton. Left to cherish him are his wife of 65 years, Ruby Estep; three sons, Tom (Patricia) Estep of Bluefield, WV, Tony (Jennifer) Estep of Beckley, WV, and Cecil Estep, Jr. of Bluefield, WV; daughter, Lara (Denny) Hylton of New Hampshire; six grandsons, Todd (Laura) Estep of Pennsylvania, Drew Hylton of New Hampshire, Thomas Estep of Bluefield, WV, Trevor (Kim) Estep of Rainelle, WV, Fred Estep of Bluefield, WV, and Tyler Estep of Bluefield, WV; one granddaughter, Taylor (Kyle) Frazier of Florida; three step grandchildren, Lacy Woolwine, Tyler Maddox, and Lillie Maddox; great-grandson, Landon Frazier; two great-granddaughters, Lorette and Rosie Estep; special friend, Keith Gore; brother, Larry (Barbara) Estep of Yorktown, VA; two sisters, Charlene Helmandollar of Beckley, and Julie Gavrick Ho of Kingsport, TN; several nieces and nephews; two aunts, Barbara Pauley of Cedar Bluff, VA, and Shirley Pauley of Bastian, VA. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday August 27, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home chapel with Craig Hammond officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour on Tuesday. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens where sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
