Bluefield, WV – Ann B. Poe, 80, of Bluefield, WV, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Carilion Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV. Ann was born July 21, 1946, in Bluefield, WV, to the late Chester Belcher and Virginia Ruth Tickle Belcher. Ann was a devoted and faithful member of College Avenue Baptist Church, where her love for the Lord, her Pastor, Chad Lambert, and her church family was evident to all who knew her. Her journey began at East End Baptist Church and continued on to College Avenue Baptist, and if the doors of the church were open, Ann was there. She served faithfully as Director of the Women’s Missionary Union and shared her love of children and her faith by teaching CIA (Children in Action), Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. Her church was not simply a place she attended—it was a place where she served, loved, and made a difference in the lives of others. Ann and her best friend and beloved husband of 57 years, Russell, shared many wonderful memories throughout their life together. In 1980, they proudly became State Champions in archery, an accomplishment they achieved side by side. Their partnership, friendship, and love were a beautiful part of Ann’s life. Above all, Ann treasured her family. She never wanted to miss a moment of the lives of those she loved, especially her grandchildren. Her grandchildren lovingly called her “Mom Mom,” and they always knew they could look into the stands and find her cheering them on. Whether it was a baseball game, football game, or any other sporting event, Ann was there—proud, supportive, and never missing an opportunity to celebrate them. Her presence was a constant reminder of how deeply she loved her family. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas “Tommy” Belcher. Those left to cherish Ann’s memory and carry her love in their hearts are her beloved husband of Bluefield, Russell R. Poe; her children, Deborah Martin (Jimmy) of Bluefield, Amy Snider (Richard) of Waynesboro, VA, and Rusty (Connie) Poe of Princeton, WV; her sister, Patty Woodward (Rish) of Salem, VA; her four grandchildren, whom she was so very proud to call her angel babies: Kacee Palmer (Jarod), Holly Lastinger (Tim), Aiden Poe, and Bradley Poe; her two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Lyla Lastinger; numerous nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Velma Walker. Ann will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generous heart, her devotion to her family, and the love and encouragement she gave so freely to those around her. Her family will forever cherish the memories of her presence at every game, every church gathering, and every important moment—and most of all, the love of a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who was always there. Though she will be deeply missed, Ann’s love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. A funeral service will follow at noon with Rev. Chad Lambert officiating. A private burial will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bluefield Union Mission, 2203 Bluefield Avenue, Bluefield, WV 24701, or to College Avenue Baptist Church, 1908 Jefferson Street, Bluefield, WV 24701.
