Helen Ferguson Asbury

Princeton, WV- Helen Lucille Asbury, 87, of Glenwood Park Nursing Home, Princeton, WV, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday December 17, 2008 with her four daughters at her side Born on November 19, 1921 in Williamson, WV, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Genevieve Ferguson. Helen lived most of her life in Bluefield, WV where she served as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Bluefield Community Hospital from 1968-1986. After retirement she relocated to Newport News, VA for a short period of time. Helen returned back to Princeton, WV in 2006 where she resided at Glenwood Park Nursing Home. Her daughters carried out her hearts desire to return her back to West Virginia, as one could hear her say, "Take me home country roads to the place I belong, West Virginia mountain moma, take me home country roads." In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her late husband Robert Lee Asbury; her very special loving sister, Ovelia Disibbio; her half sisters, Vada Hatfield and Gertrude David; and grandson, Darrell Webster Custalow. Left to cherish her memories and her spirit of love in the hearts are her four daughters, Barbara Custalow and husband Dr. Lin Custalow of Williamsburg, VA, Susan Sizemore and husband Wayne Sizemore of Princeton, WV, Kathie Lee Walls and husband Howard Walls of Hampton, VA and Debbie Davis and husband Jones Davis of Williamsburg, VA. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Grandchildren include Beth Custalow of San Diego, CA, Amy Wendling of Redwood City, CA, Lisa Boom of Menlo Park, CA, Julie Custalow of Atlanta, GA, Mark Harry of Princeton, WV, Leslie Howery of Richlands, VA, Randy Sizemore of Princeton, WV, Jennifer Carpenter of Hampton, VA, Michael Walls of Kansas City, KA, Joshua Walls of Newport News, VA, Kristin Sorcinelli of Agawam, MA, Sarah Watson of Agawam, MA and Jordan Davis of Williamsburg, VA; and last but not least her very best friend, Johnny Dissibbio and his family of Bluefield, WV. The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Friday December 19, 2008 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday December 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.
