Lucile Vermillion
Crowell formerly of Bluefield, died Monday, May 15, 2006 at the age of 94 at the
home of her daughter Diana C. Tibbs in Gaithersburg, MD.
Lucile was born March
3, 1912 at Tazewell, VA. She was the daughter of the late Walter King and Nell
Burton Vermillion. She received her early education in Virginia and graduated
from Beaver High School in 1928. She later worked at Thornton’s Department
Store in Bluefield and Saks Fifth Avenue in Chevy Chase, MD as a seamstress,
fitter. She was a member of the Bland Street Methodist Church in Bluefield, WV
and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Kensington, MD.
In addition to her
parents, her husband James E. Crowell, her youngest son, James E. Crowell, Jr.,
and nine brothers, Carl, Earl, Floyd, Felix, Irby, Joseph, John, James and
Walter Vermillion, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her
son Robert K. Crowell and wife Margo; daughter, Tina Tibbs and husband Benjamin;
grandchildren, Donna (Chris) Lowell, Kimberly (Rich) Hagler, Melinda (Don)
Miller, and James E. Crowell; great-grandchildren, Jackie Crowell, Daniel Lowell
and Nicholas Lowell.
Memorial services
will be held Wednesday, May 24, at 10:00 a.m. at the Mercer Funeral Chapel,
Bluefield, with Rev. Jim Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Monte
Vista Cemetery, Green Valley.
